Nearly all my art quilts start with a piece of fabric I have hand painted with floral or abstract images inspired by color and nature. The way I work is extremely intuitive--I do not begin with a preconceived result, instead I prefer to explore what the fabric wants to be. After the main image is completed, it is layered it over batting and backing and machine quilted. Hand stitching with pearl cotton completes the piece.
