The Cathedral Floor
The forest is a Spiritual place, and never
more so than in the early Spring as Winter passes away and new plant
growth begins. The beadwork
on the surface of this quilt depicts how the forest floor is transformed
into a Cathedral Floor glowing in the sunlight of Spring and Spirit.
The quilt top is hand drawn and painted showing the bloodroot,
wild ginger and hepatica of early spring. |
Missouri Reflections
Missouri Reflections is a bead embellished art quilt designed
after a trip to the Missouri Botanical Gardens. The quilt incorporates
photography by using a photo transfer technique created with images photographed
by the artist at the Missouri Botanical Gardens in July of 2003.
The diamond theme represents the repeated reflections found in the water. The
quilting is a combination of traditional stitches, free motion sewing and thread
painting. The quilt was three years in the making with over fifty hours in the
beadwork alone.
